Entertainment and Lighting Controls Using ZWAVE |
Affordable whole house control solutions center around three underlying technologies which can be controlled from a single point. This solution presents a ZWAVE-based radio frequency approach to entertainment center and wireless lighting control in the home.
The Harmony 890 Remote Control from Logitech is a single device capable of controlling entertainment center audio/video devices and lighting in your home using a ZWAVE RF network. The Harmony 890 with rechargeable batteries replaces up to 15 existing A/V device infrared (IR) remotes and sends both IR and ZWAVE signals to control your devices. The ZWAVE signals allow you to place your A/V devices out-of-sight in a closet rack or closed cabinet to enhance the room decor. The color LCD screen provides one button control for typical entertainment activities or lighting scenes. You can add extra Harmony receivers and/or remotes to control multiple entertainment centers with a single remote or a dedicated remote to each room. Setup of the Harmony remote and your ZWAVE network is accomplished with an easy to use computer-based configuration assist that asks you questions about your device use as it walks you through the setup process.
The ZWAVE Plug-in Lamp Module from Intermatic provides an RF repeater which allows your lamp to be controlled by the Harmony 890 Remote or other ZWAVE controllers. This device allows on/off and dimming control of your incandescent lamp via ZWAVE and participates in a ZWAVE mesh network by retransmitting the wireless signal for reception by other nearby ZWAVE devices. Installation couldn't be easier, just plug the module into a wall outlet and plug the lamp into the side of the module. An Appliance module (fluorescent lighting) and an Outdoor Lighting module are also available.
The ZWAVE In-Wall Switch/Dimmer also from Intermatic provides an RF repeater which allows your lights to be controlled by the Harmony 890 Remote or other ZWAVE controllers. This device allows on/off and dimming control of incandescent lighting loads from 40 to 300 watts via ZWAVE and participates in a ZWAVE mesh network by retransmitting the wireless signal for reception by other nearby ZWAVE devices. Installation is similar to any other standard wall switch, you may want to consult a registered electrician for installation.
