Cost Effective Pool/SPA Remote Controls |
Why pay up to $2000 or more for a pool/spa remote control system when this solution allows you to accomplish single button control for pool/spa operations for under $200?
By installing two DPDT X10 relays inside the pool/spa control box you can control the action of turning the pool/spa on or off with a single X10 command. The inside of the SPA control box for our demo home is shown at right. The two X10 relays in the bottom of the box control the SPA jets, filter, heater, and waterfall. Two additional X10 switches (not pictured) control the SPA lighting system. If your pool/spa is controlled with electronic valves instead of a mechanical timer use the 8 Channel X10 Relay Control Unit listed below in place of the X10 relays.
By creating a scene for "SPA running" either with an INSTEON system or Homeseer software you can turn on all SPA functions with one button on the remote. In addition, with Homeseer you can test for night time and turn the lights on if past sunset.
The X10 Pro Wireless Remote Control System pictured at right is the recommended unit to control your SPA X10 relays from anywhere inside or outside the house. The device on the right side of the picture is a RF Transceiver Module which plugs into a standard wall outlet and detects and transmits X10 commands sent from a wireless device for any of the 16 units associated with a selected house code. The device on the left of the picture is a RF transmitter Remote that sends unit on/off or bright/dim commands for one of 16 X10 addresses associated with the same house code. Our SPA control requires six X10 addresses for SPA jets, filter, heater, waterfall, color wheel, and lights. The remaining 10 addresses for our chosen house code can also be controlled with this remote. Allowing us to control the SPA and 10 house lights with one handy remote. Note the RF signal from the remote will be detected up to 100 feet from the transceiver, even through walls.
If you would like to control your pool/spa remotely, the X10 Telephone Responder at left is an economical way to control your SPA X10 relays from anywhere outside the house with a phone call. The X10 Telephone Responder controls up to ten X10 addresses which is more than enough to control your pool/spa motors and heater plus X10 lighting if you so desire.
